Some cross-Channel rail services are resuming after an earlier power failure saw the Channel Tunnel closed and Eurostar cancel all of its London to Europe services for the day. A problem with the overhead power supply and a failed train blocked all traffic on Tuesday, causing travel chaos for thousands trying to get away to celebrate the new year.

Channel Tunnel traffic should return to normal overnight, operator Getlink said Tuesday, after a power supply issue that brought to a halt train trips connecting London to the European mainland.

All Eurostar passengers have been advised to postpone their journeys after a power supply issue led to major disruption in the Channel Tunnel.
